How Does the Fine Collection Process Work?
The Traffic Police (CSGT) will record images of violators on the road and detect violations via the automatic monitoring system (cameras and speed measurement devices).
The images will be sent to the image extraction department to extract violations. Each violation must meet all legal requirements, including: the violation location (the site or route), the time of violation, the violation error, and the vehicle’s license plate number.
The CSGT will print a violation notice containing full details of the violation and send it to the local police of the ward, commune, or district.
The local police will then send the violation notice to the vehicle owner and invite them to the station to pay the fine.
If the vehicle owner refuses to pay the fine voluntarily, the CSGT will set up software to track violations. This software will be integrated into the administrative software at the road units.
When a vehicle is stopped for violating traffic laws, the CSGT will enter the license plate number into the software, which will then notify the CSGT with the relevant data.
How to Check if Your Car Has Received a Fine
Enter your license plate and the certificate number into the website of the Vietnam Register to check if your vehicle has received a fine.
Many drivers are unaware of violations that have been recorded by the authorities. To avoid unexpected fines, drivers can check for violations through the Vietnam Register's system as follows:
Step 1: Access the information portal:
http://www.vr.org.vn/ptpublic_web/ThongTinPTPublic.aspx
Step 2: Enter the license plate number in the “Registration Plate” box. For 5-number plates (white plates), add the letter T (e.g., 30E12345T), and for blue plates, add the letter X.
.
 |
Enter the required information into the corresponding fields.
|
Step 3: Enter the certificate number in the “Current certificate number” field. Drivers can find this number on the inspection sticker placed on the windshield. For the certificate number, use a hyphen (-) between the letters and numbers (e.g., KC-1708901).
Step 4: Enter the verification code in the “Verification Code” field.
Step 5: Click the "Check" button.
Step 6: View the violation details (if any) under the line “Notification from relevant authorities regarding the vehicle.” If there is no notification, it means the vehicle has not received a fine.
 |
If the vehicle has not received a fine – no violation.
|
 |
If the vehicle has received a fine - a notification will appear in a red
box above.
